Saudi Commission for Health Specialties announced the inception of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) in the SCFHS headquarter in the Diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh, where a special center was inaugurated in cooperation with the National Council of the American Board. The Deputy Secretary General of the Commission Prof. Dr. Suliman Bin Omran Al- Omran, explained that the USMLE center will test (Step 1 + Step 2), which is a prerequisite for physicians to enroll in higher education programs in the United States to get the American Board.
Professor Al-Omran pointed out that the center is the only one in the Kingdom, which provides these two exams, stressing at the same time that the opening of this center will provide to candidates who interested in applying for these two tests the trouble of traveling abroad as it was before. The Executive Board of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties approved addition of four essential scientific materials in the content of all Saudi Board higher educational programs as a compulsory for all trainees, including (methods of scientific research and the principles of medical statistics, communication skills, medical ethics and professional EBM. This was explained by the Director of Public Relations and the official spokesman Mr. Abdullah Alzhian, who said that the decision has also stipulated the need to assess the level of familiarity with such material, explaining that the Commission decided to add the proportion (5%) of the number in the first part Exam in each of the additives.
He pointed out that the Commission has provided the scientific material in each subject for the trainees before the application of evaluation and the inclusion of questions in the first part exam of these materials, through the Department of Medical Education for Higher Education, which by its turn worked on recording a scientific-intensive materials about scientific research and the principles of medical statistics on tape (DVD) accompanied with a list of scientific references, he also stated that the Executive Board decided to add questions to the first part exam for this school year (July 2012) to only two materials (Scientific research Ways and principles of medical statistics.

The Governor of the American College of Surgeons in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Professor Al-Sayegh is regarded as one of the most prominent surgeons in the Kingdom who has an impressive record and embroidered achievements in the field of specialization (surgery),He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgery in the United States of America and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and has held various outstanding management positions in the academic field, where he served as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at King Saud in Abha and then as a medical Director of King Fahd Hospital in Medina, and these was before he was appointed the Secretary-General of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
On this occasion, Prof Dr. Abdul Aziz al-Sayegh, the Secretary-General of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, and the Governor of the American College of Surgeons, expressed his pride in choosing him by Faculty Council and his fellow practitioners in the Kingdom, stressing that this recognition by the prestigious college was not only a recognition for him, but also a recognition for the capabilities of all Saudi doctors and their competence, adding at the same time that the great efforts made by the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, to support the Saudi physician at all levels, wishing permanent presence of Saudi Physician in all international forums, pointing out that the existence of such branch in the Kingdom will provide an opportunity for all surgeons in the Kingdom to benefit from the experiences of the American college of surgeons through contacting them.
It is worth mentioning that the American College of Surgeons is a scientific college aims to improve the quality of surgical care to the patient by establishing high standards for surgical education and practice. It was established in 1913, and is one of the oldest scientific institutions in the world.

The Secretary-General of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties Dr. Abdulaziz bin Hassan Al Sayegh said that the Commission will spare no effort to overcome all the obstacles that may face its branches in different regions of the Kingdom, whether in financial or human resources.
This came during a meeting with administrators and moderators of the branches in the Kingdom at the main office in the diplomatic quarter in Riyadh, where he thanked them for their excellence in the advancement for services provided to health practitioners in all regions of the Kingdom. The Secretary-General stressed on the importance of everyone's keenness to provide the services to applicants smoothly and positively which by its turn reflects what the Commission believes toward others.
Professor Al-Sayegh has invited administrators and moderators of SCFHS branches to guide their employees to the importance of accelerating the completion of the transactions in a correct way according to the rules of SCFHS, to consistent with most important played tasks that includes controlling the process of safe professional practice.

The Board of Trustees of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties in the fourth meeting which was chaired by the Minister of Health and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabiah has approved on the appointment of Dr. Yasser bin Abdulaziz Tashkandi to the position of Assistant Secretary-General for registration and classification for a period of three years.
Dr. Tashkandi is one of the distinctive competencies in the field of his specialization, where he obtained numerous certificates and degrees including a doctorate in Pharm.D from the University of Maryland, USA, and completed the program, "a pharmacist resident" of the Boston University Hospital, USA and obtained a certificate of the equation of the University of South Carolina for Studies medical, USA, and a bachelor degree in pharmacy from King Saud University.
Dr. Yasser Tashkandi expressed his thanks to the Minister of Health and Chairman of the Board of Trustees and to the Secretary General of the Commission Professor Dr. AbdulAziz Bin Hassan Al-Sayegh and his pride in this great confidence.

The Secretary-General welcomed the delegation and gave them a brief on the rule of the Saudi Commission and on the tasks that the commission take over which includes controlling the process of safe professional practice, where they discussed many topics related to the private health sector and to the commission services introduced to them.
The meeting discussed related points on the accreditation exams, professional registration and professional additional licenses granted for physician and its procedures in order to reach constructive communication between the Commission and the private health sector.
The Secretary-General explained that the Commission harnessed its potentials to provide excellent services to all health practitioners in the Kingdom as it is witnessing a major expansion in all regions of the Kingdom in terms of opening branches in all major regions of the Kingdom in an effort to provide a complete service for workers in the health sector..

Sheikh Abdullah Bugshan Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Organization has expressed his happiness of what was done at the meeting from preliminary agreements on cooperation between the Commission and Hadramout Physician Society, He stated that they are in this organization aspiring to further cooperation with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties and to benefit from the successful expertise and experience achieved by the Commission through its support for some of the bodies and Equivalent Councils in the GCC countries, stressing that the Board of Trustees of the Hadramout Physician Society are looking to activate this cooperation rapidly.
At the end of the meeting, Secretary-General of the Saudi Commission Professor Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Sayegh said that the Commission is ready to do all the efforts to support this organization with practical and scientific experiences, pointing out that the duty of the brothers and the right of neighborhood makes it imperative as a harmony with the directives of Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al-Sabah.

The Secretary-General of the Commission Professor Al-Sayegh expressed his happiness to sign this Memorandum of Understanding, stressing that it will be the beginning of the similar signing of agreements with the American National Council for Professional Medical License which seeks the opening wider to the similar scientific institutions to provide all what would be beneficial and interest to the Saudi trainees and thus developing the level of medical staff workers in the health sector.
It is worth mentioning that the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties is granting the Saudi Board Certificates in the medical field and provides more than sixty training programs from the public and accurate health specialties programs.
